Currently, the model uses a single matrix which describes atmospheric transmission as a function of both elevation and wavelength. However, this was computed assuming good atmospheric conditions. It would be advantageous to be able to use a variety of different such matrices, describing different atmospheric archetypes

closed for discrete models of atmospheric visibility in commit 53af9e4a9d233134cd756f97ae7596d92bf52a4b also supports visibility varying during a pass.

Further provision could be interpolation between visibility values but this seems excessive at the current complexity levels, especially given the lack of cloud modelling (which is likely more significant than visibility variation).
