Feature request: Tabs #96

I usually open multiple videos from my subscriptions in tabs so i can watch them all in a row, i don't know about others but i really need this to be able to use freetube.

I've seen this requested several times and it looks like it's going to need to happen sooner than later because of some of the recent things I've been working on. I think a quick and dirty fix (by that I mean something that I could get done before the next release) is have the videos play through a new window instead of the main one. That way you can open up several videos while keeping your spot on the main one. It wouldn't be as clean but it would be much quicker to do than by making proper tabs.

I just wanted to say that the only reason I'm not using Freetube (I still use it once in a while for big videos) is because it doesn't support tabs, because videos don't load instantly so I am always idling for at least 30 seconds until a video is ready to play, hence tabs would help by going from 1 tab to another instead of waiting in-between

I know that saying this doesnt mean much because a pull request is what really matters, but seeing this is from 2018 and has so little attention is kinda depressing

Though, slightly off-topic, having seen the version 0.5 changelog and onwards, I am very hopeful and should be permanently hooked to Freetube if happens until 1.0, and I really think it is an incredible open-source software!!

I think I'll likely make a blog post explaining what needs to be done before a stable 1.0 release once 0.6.0 comes out. Tab support is on that list however I believe back navigation support will be worked on first.

so tabs yeah?

freetube is absolutely amazing, BUT we all need tabs, and lots of them.

Any news on the tabs enhancement? Looks like FreeTube would be the solution to all my woes with YT, but tabs are essential unfortunately

mirddes commented 9 months ago

"you're not in the 90s now, dr ropata."

-- The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 (General Assembly resolution 217 A http://www.un.org/en/ga/search/view_doc.asp?symbol=A/RES/217(III)) as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected and it has been translated into over 500 languages. http://www.ohchr.org/EN/UDHR/Pages/SearchByLang.aspx
