https://maps.nls.uk/ is the map finder. The County Maps section does not have UK-wide coverage (eg no Somerset, the example I was looking for).

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Historic_counties_of_England takes some drilling down, but, gets you to, eg., https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Old_county_maps_of_Somerset
