Plan a campaign to recruit transcribers alongside London 1871 fundraising #1015

Hi,

I picked this up about London 1871. Do not have time to read them all but as I look after 1871 London it caught my eye.

Not sure what is planned for the 1871 London, but as I already look after it, I have sent you details attached as to the current stage each PIECE number is at.

  1. One point to make is that all the images we have for 1871 London are all S & N.
Therefore unless you get permission from S & N to use them none will be available to go ONLINE. Unless of course you manage to get hold of Archives CD Books copies. (That would be really nice if that is what the fundraising will be for)

  2. If you go ahead with a plan to recruit more transcribers for 1871 London, , ( 592 PIECE Numbers in total ) then could you also please try to recruit a new Coord to look after London Census full stop. It was never my intention to look after London. Due to either the deaths of past COORDS or losing them for other reasons, for want of another word, I got lumbered with London. I have 71 Pieces to Proof Read and about 12 to Validate at this point of time for 1871.

  3. Please bare in mind that I also have the 1891 census for London. They consist of (541 PIECE NUMBERS) We do however have the Micro Fiche for them all (With Helen) but only a few have been digitised as yet. Kevin did digitise a few from the Micro Fiche, that we did had at the time and I still have those digitised copies. The rest of the Fiche all went AWOL with either the transcriber or as was common, lost in the post. But as we have a new set of Fiche not an issue. Unless you find any 1891 Archive CD Books copies!!

a. But again we do have 2 Copies of the London 1891 census sets, from, yes you guessed it, S & N. b. Bev has taken 58 PIECES Camberwell & Wandsworth, off me and has asked Helen to digitise them as and when. c. Bev will not use the S & N copies and it is her choice and I respect that. d. For 1891 London I have 6 to Validate and 50 to Proof Read.

  1. Beki also let me have copies of the 1861 census for London Images, again S & N copies (311 PIECES) I only have 1 Transcriber though for 1861 at present. Early days yet.

Not sure if this will help you with the campaign you are doing, but it would certainly help me. Fingers crossed.

Stay safe.

Brenda

Hi Brenda,

This is the project we talked about when Denise and I visited you. Yes, the fundraising is for images we can transcribe from.

Best wishes,

Pat
