FC2 Feedback: Change name input order to 'Forename - Surname' #333

This is more intuitive, modern and also the convention on other family history search websites.

On the other hand, since a surname is the minimum requirement for a search on FreeCEN, it makes sense to put it first.

Since this is 1.3, and needs more exploration - inc. user research - I have moved back into incoming.

Site looks good from my initial searches. However it seems incongruous that on the search request screen the surname precedes the first name yet on the next screen "you searched ..." they appear reversed.

It would also be easier to use if the name input section followed the example of the majority of other similar sites and one entered fore-name followed by family-name. Your converse way of entering the names caught me out several times.

Was in wrong phase, so changed to 1.4 and removed high priority.

This involves reformatting the spreadsheets (easy) and re-coding the upload/replacements. It also involves recoding the FC1 to FC2 conversions. Also the vld upload. I dont see it as a minor enhancement. FC1 was in the same order as we now do FC2, we did not change it. Geoff

This is a reporting issue. If this change is going to be made then it needs to be a whole of FreeCENGenealogy deciision. FreeBMD is developing at the moment and FreeCEN soon. This needs to be referred to the umbrella organisation of all three projects. Geoff
