I was reading this just now: https://github.com/github/renaming . It's very likely that we would be fine to change now, but I don't see any harm in waiting for the end of the month to see if they role out something amazing for this process.

The above link has been updated. They now have this guide to renaming branches for the admin to do via the website: https://docs.github.com/en/github/administering-a-repository/renaming-a-branch
As it explains, it deals with any open pull requests and generally redirects all matters online, but it does not update the members development environments (meaning that they would need to update the target branch in their IDEs).
This is as much about me testing out Zenhub as anything, but... I noticed when I was browsing the github repository that we were using Master branches (rather than Main). It's a fairly contested issue, but is this something that's already been discussed?
