Added to intern task list: conduct formative user evaluation into potential changes to method of changing radius of Search Nearby places (i.e. serve large and narrow in, or serve narrow and expand out)
Survey of users created on moving from (large to small) to (small to large) search radius.
NB constraint of 250 max records applies whether increasing or decreasing radius is used.
Where are the results of the survey of users please? and the conclusion from that survey?
Survey has yet to take place. We have recently appointed Dragos as intern to carry out this (and other testing, mostly on FreeCEN).

@PatReynolds, the previous intern commented on having already set-up a survey - do we have a link for this? We will, most likely, use another survey platform, however this may be a useful reference..
Interesting to actually find out what it is proposed to survey please!
Do people prefer to start at maximum diameter, and refine by reducing, or start at minimum diameter, and expand outwards?

Is this still relevant?
My original story is still very appropriate. Please don't scrap this idea. Not sure about the subsequent inputs though.
This replaces #253. Based on the experience of using the present method of starting with a high value radius and decrease in steps, [the "Decreasing Radius" approach] for searching locations Nearby to the origin Place, i suggest we reverse the method and start with the place itself + a minimum step (- like 2miles?), and then let the user increase the radius step up to the value where the 250 records limit is reached. Ensuring always, that the records relating to the Origin Place are always included in the results if there are any. If no results at the place of origin, a message not to that effect will help users/ suggest they step up the "nearby" radius until the max limit of records is reached. For the place which contributes the records that take the total over 250, I suggest it necessary to include ALL of that place, or none of that place - because including some implies that ALL have been included.
ALTERNATIVELY, modify the existing to have the same net effect as requested here.
