Patto look at Ancestry - is searching by image possible
Couple of examples. These look to possibly be permanent urls: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageviewer/collections/1904/images/32858_611411_2000-00031?treeid=&personid=&rc=&usePUB=true&_phsrc=aRt5158&_phstart=successSource&pId=17033071
@PatReynolds to consider as part of wider work with sources over the summer
Family Search has ?permanent image urls eg https://www.familysearch.org/records/images/image-details?page=1&place=3041641&rmsId=M9SM-14M&imageIndex=3&singleView=true
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageviewer/collections/9200/images/004010744_00980?pId=2139660 (Northants County Record Office image)
https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7165994 National Archives - example of preview before purchase page County Courth Probate
This needs to be discussed with FamilySearch. Wouldn't want to link to images behind paywalls, only free/behind a free login.
@DeniseColbert to contact Chris Norton of LDS
Positives: PARTNERSHIP STRATEGY we strongly encourage people to do this, a direct link would make it easier for users. It might persuade those who have digitized to allow us to transcribe it might, if commercial companies are persuaded, open more records for us
Negatives: resources n implementation potential confusion/dislike by users
