Subdistrict information is available from the TNA - e.g. https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C3742631 - but NB this data (the listing made by the GRO (a) misses some things out, and sometimes uses alternative spellings).
Returning to backlog until FC2 changes have been made/implemented.
For review now FC2 changes (largely) complete
Put on ice until this stage of the work on FC2 places is complete
This was mistakenly put in incoming rather than on ice. I'm moving it to review as it is part of the work currently being undertaken.
Hmm... this is a systemwide issue, but isn't on the systemwide board. Can you see it there @DeniseColbert and if so move it to needs discussion.
I might be back online by the next systemwide if it is to be discussed then.
The documentation of places is a systemwide issue, but this is specifically about FreeCEN - the work on FreeCEN as is is largely finished, apart from some field names need adding to the spreadsheet.
It has been decided that 'place of census' for shipping will be the port where the census was returned. However, this misses valuable information (the place where the vessel was on census night, and the place where the census was issued). Two new sets of fields will need creating if they don't already exist: Vessel position (lat and long on census document - or if no lat and long, use place described e.g. 'In Creek, Parishes X/Y boundary' tor 'Western Docks, Hull, etc - treat as address.
Where census issued.
All three places need capturing by a search both within FreeCEN and in cross-database searching.
spreadsheet to collect information: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18r49MWKIgKQa6g05wEvu8P7q48IyPA17VpnJB0lSxCA/edit?usp=sharing
Needs input from FreeCEN team
