Tabpanel issues – no Jaws mode switch, redundant speech output #795

Summary

When entering an ARIA tabpanel, Jaws does not change modes correctly (stays in VPC mode) and “Selected" is announced twice for the active tab

Example:

SnippixHTML Example (ARIA-APG)

Workflow:

Enter tabpanel in examples with TAB Move away from selected tab and refocus it again

Expected Result: Jaws switches modes that arrow key navigate to next tab

Actual result Jaws does NOT switch modes that arrow key navigate to next tab The selected tab is announced twice on re-focusing with arrow keys

Also iJaws 2024 and Jaws 2023, do not read out the count on number position of a tab. Issue is reproducible here: https://www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/patterns/tabs/examples/tabs-manual/. This works perfectly fine in Jaws 2022.
