Sync master with scarthgap (backports) #1909

Backports from master to scarthgap, so we can sync both branches and get scarthgap up to date with the latest NXP BSP 6.6.23-2.0.0.

I checked the commits between scarthgap and master (git log scarthgap..master) and these are the decisions I made:

The ones with "cherry-picked" are the commits present in this PR, and "already present" means I did not have to do anything, it was already in scarthgap.

@otavio I just removed "mesa,mesa-gl: Rename bbappend to match core" on my last force push, I wrote in the table that this one was skipped but I forgot to drop it. Now it is removed. Sorry about that, all good now.
