Revisit YouTube tests #562

There were a number of outstanding issues discussed originally in #517. We should probably attend to them at some point.

Furthermore, the tests themselves (especially mocking) could be improved.

I've started working on making some of the changes suggested in #517. Will send a WIP PR shortly.
