Related to input resolution:

When capture a small area from desktop, the result can be much more fluent.

Related to output plug-in (byte rate and resolution):

On Windows, for the same video, output in 480p can get 1fps video，but output in 720p will get an almost static screenshot. (Could be considered as a but)

Related to System (ximagesrc vs dx9screencapsrc)

On Linux, an input video can have as high resolution as 1080p (acceptable fluency). But on Windows, that resolution will bring a static picture. (This need further research to confirm since the hardwares for my Windows and Linux are different)

UNRELATED to output resolution

For the same video, 180p output has exactly the same frame ratio as 480p one.

Doing those tests is a good start.

FWIW, framerate on Linux is more important to us since we use Linux machines at conferences.

To improve the frame rate. The way can be change a better capture plugin. However, there are few plugins that can capture desktop, And dx9screencapsrc, which is the one we use now, is already a pretty good one among them.So it can be not so possible to improve.
