Here's some quick ideas for the cyber hound. Note that alot of the sounds contain many layers and parts. For example, bad doggie has a growl followed by a quick bite and metal hand has a swing then an impact
These are really great, only thing missing is the rocket flying and blowing up! :boom: Also, rocket falling from sky, like an air strike might do, as a result of using Target Locking ability.
Thanks. Was the rocket explosion not in there? there should be one called rocket launcher blast.
Oh, I thought the Blast was an alternative version for the launch, as the other one was too long and it included a lot of rocket traveling into it, which wasn't ideal. So either make the explosion of the rocket a bit more violent (so I can use the blast as a launching sound) or make the launching sound shorter and with less rocket traveling in it xD
Here's a shorter rocket launch and a slightly more violent explosion. Let me know if it needs to be more violent Cyber_Hound2.zip
Those should do. Only thing left is the rocket traveling jet (horizontally) and the rocket falling from above (vertically), which would have a bit of a whistle to it.
sure, will both of these sounds need to be looped?
also will any of these sounds be in the new version coming out this month?
Just the "rocket traveling jet (horizontally)" should be loopable (and very short).
Don't think the sfx will make it into this version, we're very late as it is, but all of them should go into v0.4 scheduled for December 12th. Hopefully we'll have way more man power by then xD
sounds good, here's the rocket traveling sounds
The vertical one has good idea at the end (whistling as requested), but it needs to be way shorter in size and length, 2.5s tops, without the first part which sounds like a launch.
The horizontal one needs to be way smaller in size; could be more monotonous as well (smaller length), kinda like a burning fuse. Also less louder please. The rockets will usually impact the targets fast, but sometimes at different intervals.
As a rule of thumb, try to keep sounds rather short and under 100kb if possible.
These are about 2 seconds each. It is difficult to get them under 100kb because converting an mp3 to an ogg doubles its size. But these are pretty close size-wise. Cyber_Hound4.zip
Those sound good, well done. The vertical one should be shortened to 2s ideally.
Regarding double file size, that's strange. Usually ogg files would be the smaller ones. I wonder if there are some more optimized settings to be done when exporting the ogg files. Otherwise I'll have to see about some automated tool in the pipeline to have the files optimized. http://www.differencebetween.net/technology/difference-between-ogg-and-mp3
I played around in Audacity a bit, exporting at quality level 5 drastically reduces file size and sounds the same. Also, converting to mono reduces the size even more, as there's no point in having the file stereo if there aren't any differences between the two channels afaik.

Bad Doggie - dog/wolf bite attack.
Metal Hand - a heavy punch sounding metallic; could also use an electric sparkle sound for the upgraded version, the sparkle itself could be separate file.
Rocket Launcher - a mini rocket being launched, plus a small explosion for when impacting a target, as #separate files. Also a small reactor jet type of sound for the rocket flying, ideally loopable.
Targeting Locking - a few beeps at shorter and shorter intervals and then a locking sound, 1.5 - 2s tops. Also, the sound of a rocket falling from the sky, like from an air strike will be needed.
