The ingame health indicators could have the numbers animated by doing a quick 1 point constant increase or decrease in order to transition to the new value in less that a second probably. This could be done as a function, also being applied to upper-right score / plasma values and perhaps the newly animated hints over units, maybe to some other suitable places.
Odometer library could be used for the health indicators, with its default or minimal theme (not sure what's the difference) http://github.hubspot.com/odometer
