website redesign #577

I'm starting all over again with the website redesign process as I've learned a few things from my previous work and research.

I think it's a pretty bad idea for the website to be widescreen and non-scrollable, because that imposes issues with 4:3 screens and even with smaller screen devices such as smart phones, which basically reduces the website accessibility.

The website navigation menu should contain a play now button, since it's a browser based game after all and a lot of downloadable games do things better compared to AB. A redesigned AB text should be inline with the other page buttons (150x50), leading to the homepage itself. Hopefully the top of the homepage somehow won't duplicate that.

The navigation menu could stay visible on screen at the very top even if scrolling down, at least without any big icons if we'll go for something like that eventually. An example of that is this website http://vanillaforums.com which also does a subpage navigation menu say nicer than the old AB website, might go for that functionality as well.

All pages should be rather eye candy, containing game units. Might as well have 2 random unit on the column sides.

Ideally there would be no grey divs, perhaps have custom made slices along with some background if not going for the 2 creatures on the sides idea. This would make the website both eye candy, fresh and modular.

The homepage itself shouldn't be bloated with too much info and text, but rather present some of the other pages. Could even feature units, merchandise, blog posts, forum posts and so on, it could feel kinda like a cool gaming magazine overall.

Doing a wireframe mockup is always a good idea to test ideas in UI.

Been doing so on paper, anyway, more research and mock-ups to be done until I'll start doing them on PC and get coding.

A nice way of showcasing the realms in the bestiary among the cards would be like on this website www.nextcargame.com
