Newcomer in the group should see all past group DMs

Hello everyone, I use the private discussions as mean for groups to organize and talk. Now, if someone new is added to the group, I figure it should make sense for him to read the past stuff of that group, including the DMs as he has the right permissions to do it (in the permissions tab, users from that group can see the PMs with that tag).

The behavior right now is that a newcomer does not see the past private discussions for that group.

Could we at least add an option to change this?

I'm not really sure that such a feature would fit to all flarum instances... Take this example :

• A, B and C are discussing about a serious issue they have with D.
• After some time, they discuss about integrating or not D to the discussion, to let him explain himself about the situation. A disagree and exposes his feelings about D, but he ends up accepting.
• D is invited into the private discussion and discovers the A's feelings about him.

Well, this is not a very likely case, but what if ?

On another side, I agree with you that it would be very convenient most of the time. So maybe an ideal feature would be :

• let admin decide if :
  • new users cannot see the history (default)
  • new users can see the history (in this case, it's his responsibility to let users know what's happening when they add a new user on their private discussions)
  • let all users decide each time they add a new user to a private discussion, if they let him see the history or not

Hi there, I totally see your point and I think it's a good solution to let the admin choose. Those three options seem to cover most needs
