What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use 'start external player' in preferences with the command 'vlc'
2. No video is shown in sopcast, and vlc is not started

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect vlc to show the video

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm usiong ubuntu 12.04 64-bit. I have installed:
$ apt-cache policy sopcast-player
sopcast-player:
  Installed: 0.8.5~ppa~precise1
  Candidate: 0.8.5~ppa~precise1
  Version table:
 *** 0.8.5~ppa~precise1 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/jason-scheunemann/ppa/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

VLC:
~$ apt-cache policy vlc
vlc:
  Installed: 2.0.1-4
  Candidate: 2.0.1-4
  Version table:
 *** 2.0.1-4 0

Did you launch a channel that normally plays with the integrated video player?
Try using sop://218.106.52.252:3912/1649 in the open dialog, it has proven to
be a very reliable test stream.

Hello.

I'm using Xubuntu 12.04 64-bit and everything works fine. VLC Version is 2.0.3
and sopcast-player is 0.8.5~ppa~precise1.
I think this bug does not exist any more.

But i needed some minutes to understand how to use a external player. It would
be great if this could get explained in the FAQ.

Thank you flyguy97 for this great programm.
