SUSE: How to select the RPM compression algorithm #341

Please, How to speed up the build time and change the RPM compression algorithm to something a) faster even single-threaded b) faster & multi-threaded? I'm on OpenSUSE but this is perhaps a generic RPM-distro related question.

It probably is possible but needs lots of documentation reading of rpmbuild. If you can find the relevant commands for rpmbuild I am willing to help out. Otherwise you can just use Generic distro and handle uninstalling kernels by hand.
