[BUG (Proton)] Final Fantasy XIV Doesn't Launch Properly #553

I found out that the "new launcher" can be bypassed by editing a config file at: /compatdata/39210/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/ and changing the "Browser" line in the config file there from "2" to "1"

That said though, attempting to redeem the CD key and accept the license agreements (etc) for a new account fails with this error that basically prevents the game from being played as a new user: image

The new launcher has always been broken in wine since it's been a thing afaik. Regarding CD key, can't you redeem it in your browser instead, on SE's website? I just tested connecting to my account and it worked fine as usual (using the old launcher).

That's the thing, I can't redeem it in a browser either because I get an error there too when I try it :/
