I really enjoy your AdvancedProfanityFilter. I wish there was a similar add-on to VLC or some other media player. I have been searching and can't find anything that is like what you have created for a browser. There a lot of people talking about needing it but nothing is being done.

Thanks @thaddeusrose, I'm glad you are enjoying it. I know VLC uses Python for its plugins, so this project won't be able to help out there much. I haven't looked into it, but I'll add it to the backlog to see if there is an Electron-based media player out there that we might be able to utilize to create an application that incorporates APF.

Good morning @richardfrost. What if you use a Chrome addon for VLC, will that be possible to let it work to take out the bad words. work

richardfrost commented 10 months ago

@hendrikbez I'm not familiar add-ons for VLC. Do you have a specific one in mind you can share here? I'd be happy to take a look.

Thought it might be worth mentioning here, although not directly a "media player application", you should be able to setup Plex Media Server and play videos with subtitles through that and watch it in a browser with APF. I would still like to have a stand-alone media player app with APF built-in though, but I haven't had much time to look into it more. I do think it should be possible though.

Here is something I founded while browsing https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/open-in-vlc-media-player/ihpiinojhnfhpdmmacgmpoonphhimkaj

Jesus Christ is Lord

All the browser plugins or add-ons to a browser I have looked at deal with streaming via the internet. The only standalone media player I have found is CleanMediaPlayer with user editable words that can be removed or replaced using the text in the subtitle. It cost $10. for each PC. Very much worth it. Here is the web site: https://cleanmediaplayer.com/

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Greetings Hendrik
