Game freezing / hanging #447

Platform: Linux Mint 19 and Windows 10 (dual boot > same issue) UT Version: 4.3.4 Bug description: after some time (can be between 2 and 15 mn - no specific event triggering this behavior) the screen is freezing, mouse not responding, keyboard not responding except possibility to hit "ESC" and access the menu. Then mouse working again. Then usually I quit to the menu and re-enter "Play online"
Reproducing behavior: not really clear how to reproduce as it occurs frequently with no apparent reason/trigger Additional Comments:

  1. this issue seems very similar to the bug #431 which has been fixed in version 4.3.4.
  2. same issue appears on second computer running Windows 10
  3. same issue appears on the various servers and various game modes (TD, CTF, etc...)
  4. issue not occurring when playing on LAN

I am suspecting a network issue (router, proxy, firewall) but cannot pinpoint any potential root cause as I have checked everything (note: I usually have ping between 20 and 50 in the game).

If you need any additional information / data please let me know

As this happens on several computers and various servers, but not when playing on LAN, I suspect that the issues is effectively with your home network. Are you playing over a WiFi or PLC network? If this is the case, please make sure that your network card's drivers are up to date, and try (if you can) to play using the Ethernet instead and see how it goes.

By the way props to you for having read and used the "README" to post a bug report, you might be the first person to use the template we've provided. 😄

edit : (message deleted) i created a new issue because the gio-BZH problem was definitively not the same than the mine.

I have managed to mitigate the situation by decreasing the default network settings within the setup of the game:

It did the job and I have not seen the issue re-occurring since on both partitions Windows and Linux.
I hope it helps.
