There are no tags in this repository which makes it quite difficult to figure out which commit was used for the 4.2 release.

TTimo commented 12 years ago

yeah. there will be an update to 4.2 soon. we'll tag then

Mailaender commented 12 years ago

I packaged commit ec1720b89cd6d1ef3ffefe3b4c4bf00a3c1dff35 as 4.2.001 for my RPMs according to the release date from the changelog. Auth works and I can play on the servers without "invalid game directory". Tags would be nice though.

Why is this issue closed? It's not resolved.

hasufell commented 12 years ago

That's a branch, not a tag. A tag forces a particular commit.

Mailaender commented 12 years ago

Where is 4.2.003?

wdiazux commented 12 years ago

I think the master need a update, when I compile the resulting binaries are still in the version 4.001 (not binaries folder).

The branch are for develop the next release, but the tags are used to identify the final result. I think use tags is a good practice.

TTimo commented 12 years ago

we'll fix this up next time we do work with the engine. we're busy on other things atm.

@Mailaender

Fenix|zZz: hasufell, the engine is not directly connected to the game g_modVersion Fenix|zZz: the one you can find in Barbatos github is the latest version available Fenix|zZz: so if there is no 003 tag, means that the engine has not changed hasufell: yeah, problem is they didn't tag the repo properly. Fenix|zZz: because we are really busy and sometime we forget hasufell: so you mean I can use the 4.002 branch just fine with the update game files Fenix|zZz: yup

Okay, openSUSE is updated. I use http://sourceforge.net/projects/autodownloader/ to workaround the buggy proprietary UrTupdater. It even supports incremental updates and clean uninstallation (via RPM).

See http://git-scm.com/book/en/Git-Basics-Tagging on how to properly tag your repository.

no engine change in 004. I believe 002 is the last one we changed the engine for

https://github.com/Barbatos/ioq3-for-UrbanTerror-4/commits/release-4.2.006 is now a proper tag. Thanks.
