Lots of updates on defcustom types.

Note that in dired-list.el, dired-list-use-N-flag will be obsolete as of Emacs 30.1.

Since it's a setting in this package, not Emacs itself, how does the version of Emacs affect it?

I meant there would be no need for it anymore. But I haven't actually looked at the code around where this variable is called, so I'll double check shortly.
