5 years ago I have the "Connected, waiting for the drive" too since i purchased the DLCs ETS2: Baltic Sea und ATS: Oregon in 02/2019. :(

I am getting this message : Connected, waiting for the drive... I check the other post to see the issue and I cannot get it to work
What I did. Just download "ets2-telemetry-server-master.zip" Unzip
Install in ETS2 Telemetry on my PC (Win 7 Pro) Install the application on my Android 4.1.1
Start on my PC ETS2
Start the ETS2 Telemetry on my PC (Status : Simulator is running (ETS2) in green Wireless connection connection Server IP ....
Ope the application on my tablet Enter the same IP server Every thing looks ok
On ETS2 select a Job and start to drive Press E to star trck and drive a bit
On the tablet same message
I reinstall everything, same issue
I saw this Please make sure that the server window is showing "Connected to the simulator" status message. If it is showing "Simulator is running" instead - then there is a problem with the telemetry plugin installation (ets2-telemetry-server.dll).
Replace the DLL file just to make sur. Same issue Run as Admin, same issue
Any suggestion someone
Also On the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tYlu6XAmQE) On the tablet this person was able to open the aplkication on a browser an on a App screen. On my tablet, always the browser
