Vital is developing a state of the art, accurate, compact, and fast point of care diagnostic assay system with the intention of improving health and care for everybody. We're actively looking for software engineers to work with us either onsite or remotely on the instrument along with its supporting systems. Your work could help accelerate our research team's development of assays and then go on to help people everywhere understand their health better and get better care as a result!
From a software technology perspective, we're passionate about quality code with strong static guarantees so for the embedded software we're using Rust, and for the higher level workflow, information management, and services we're using Haskell. We use Nix and NixOS to build system images for the instrument, deploy services, and for our development environment. We use Python and Jupyter{,Lab,Hub} to give our scientists and engineers the tools they need to develop the assays and subsystems of the instrument.
