Individual item selection with Artifact of Command: Buy item later tokens #177

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. ShareSuite is amazing to play with since our group has one or two people that are very greedy with items. However we love playing with Artifact of Command, trying out individual new builds. Unfortunately if you don't all play the same class, it's hard to have shared items be impactful.

Describe the solution you'd like On picking up an item, everyone that is supposed to receive the "shared" item is instead granted a "box token" of the given item rarity. When players are in a safe spot, they can hit a new key bind to open "box tokens" they have accumulated. Each press of the key opens up exactly one box token. The box token is consumed when an item is selected, that way the cancel button on the item selection screen can be pressed without the risk of loosing a "box token". It would also be nice to have some sort of box token counter so you know when to press it.

Describe alternatives you've considered Whenever someone picks up an item, everyone is suddenly shown the box open interface. This would be bad, so the "open later with box tokens" seems like a better approach.

Additional context This would be very fun because it allows for a new meta. You can have a dedicated looter on the team, you are not pigeon holed into specific builds or comps because artifact of command items are all the same for each player, and it makes for a more fun game play where no one feels shorted on items.

What if these tokens were the item scraps that are given by the scrapper?

Whenever a player selects an item with the artifact of command the other players will all get an item scrap of the same rarity. Then, each player can go to a printer (which would need to be guaranteed on stage) and convert the scrap to a normal item from which they can choose whatever they want using the artifact of command.

Yes that would work too. Maybe have a setting for how common/rare printers are, so that gameplay isn’t cornered into that region of the map.

I really like the idea of picking up scraps from monsters you kill, then turn it into a printer. It’s kind of like an MMO quest in that sense. Plus this approach opens up new game mode possibilities where the printers are guarded by monsters and you need to kill then before gaining access. Alternatively using the printer summons monsters you have to kill, but these monsters have a significantly lower chance to drop a scrap so there isn’t a feedback loop.

One thing about the scrap/printer approach is that scraps should only replace white/green/red items. My understanding is those are the only ones that can be printed
