OpenVPN pass throw problem #243

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. pppoe to provider (router works fine)
2. Ubuntu 10.10
3. OpenVPN client (standard inside network manager)
4. try to connect to openvpn server and work.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected - stable vpn channel, need to access network.
Instead connection crashes in 1-5 minutes, but vpn shows still connected, but
even ping does not work. then vpn drops in about 15-20 minutes.
Works great with old wl520gu and WL520gu-1.9.2.7-d-r2624.trx or with DD-WRT.

What version of the product are you using?
RT-N16-1.9.2.7-rtn-r3121.trx
Asus RT-N16 router

Please provide any additional information below.

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the issue. Was previous builds (r2972, r2775,
r2274) works? Are any errors in syslog?

Search "Deprecated downloads" for "RT-N16"

Do NOT work with r2972, but works great with r2775 (r2274 not tested), so
leaved with this one now. Will test whole day.
Nothing appears in syslog when vpn drops on older firmwares. VPN client also
writes nothing to logs, looks like connection becomes idle or something like
that..
More details: if just connect to openvpn and do nothing, ping become
unresponsible in about 10-12 minutes. If try to open website: 30-60 seconds and
vpn freezes. Vpn client shows disconnect only in 5-10 minutes after "freeze"

First of all, try to turn off Fast-NAT, as written in
http://code.google.com/p/wl500g/wiki/News

nvram set misc_fastnat_x=0
nvram commit

reboot

Unfortunately, Broadcom Fast-NAT not so smart, even with fixes & updates by
theMIROn.

test r4320 with fastnat *enabled*

nvram unset misc_fastnat_x
nvram commit
reboot

should be no problem

I do not confirm. All conventional connections and DNAT work over tun openvpn
interface now.
doublechecked misc_fastnat_x value, and it equals to 1.
Tested fw revisions: 4320, 4330.

probably your setup is broken. it's not related to FW.
