Soundflower - Unable to change Input/output options in Audio MIDI Settings #86

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

When I initially installed Soundflower on my Mac mini, I had a few different
Input/Output options to choose from in the Audio MIDI settings on my Mac.

I had selected the 2ch-32bit option thinking 32 bit would be better and that I
could switch to 2ch-24bit later... However, there is no longer any options
available other than 2ch-32bit (see attached file). I have tried to uninstall
and re-install Soundflower but still do not have any other options available...

Does anyone know how to switch over to 2ch-24bit...??

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Soundflower Version 1.5.2 on OSX 10.6.5

Please provide any additional information below.

I also tried to remove Soundflower, However, when I re-install it I am still
only left with 2ch-32bit as the only Input/Output option for Soundflower in the
Audio MIDI settings on my Mac...

Is there perhaps a preference file I should also be deleting?

Soundflower has never had a 24-bit option. It has always used the
CoreAudio-native 32-bit floating-point sample format.

There is an uninstall script that will remove Soundflower. A system reinstall
should not be required.

I think the cb user was confused/misguided.

I did notice that some apps have trouble routing (e.g. Skype), and I tend to
hear audio artifacts when soundflower uses a different bit rate than the global
settings. E.g. Soundflower uses 32-bit Integer, but the closest the native
input can do is 32-bit float, which *should* be the same, but I'm wondering if
there are cases where it's not.
