Hi there @aus2004 and thank you for your great suggestion, there are certainly plans to incorporate more components especially Sub E-Waste Items such as Transformers, Fans & Motors. At the moment I am working on finalizing a Full ID Based Saving Loading system for all E-Waste Objects to finally rid the game of the pink colours when loading in, once that is sorted I will move onto adding insulated copper wires, which then once I am satisfied with the core foundation of E-Waste I will then aim to release atleast one new E-Waste/Sub E-Waste Item per update, however there are a few other things, like the odd breaking of disassembly, and the horendous Chemical Work Station will need to be squeezed in there somewhere 😅
What is your Suggestion?
In my personal opinion, these items which usually consist of a modular metal block and copper windings should be made into sub components. These components are often rather repetitive to take apart, however do take a significant amount of time and effort to take apart. Maybe a complex animation for something like the M-frame?
Certain motors are also really finnikey to take apart, such as the dreaded universal motor core, which has very fine wires which are all coated in an enamel, interlaced, and the holes are covered by a fiberglass material that often has to be cut as they are held in by friction and is impossible to get a good grip on, and even then, sometimes the wire breaks completely out of your control.
circuit-mounted brushless motors are also a chore, as they have to be manually unwound instead of being able to freely rotate the part that the copper is on.
on the other hand, certain motors, like a shaded pole motor, are a virtue, with easily accessible coils thanks to the modular design. The main copper coil can be lightly tapped out with a small flathead screwdriver and hammer.
How will this suggestion fit into the Scope of Scrapping Simulator?
Motors and transformers are the most major source of copper in most devices, not even the amount gained from wires is able to compete with the amount of copper gained from these beastly components half of the time. They are very iconic among scrappers for being main targets as they have a lot of value in them, even if they are burned out or badly damaged.
How would the Game and Community benefit from this suggestion?
taking off copper from electric motors and transformers is a good way to start scrapping, as these components are easily the most accessible when it comes to salvage, not only are they found in many, many devices, but they are also relatively easy to take apart most of the time if you have the right tools.
