Hi there Aus,
Thank your for your great suggestion and insight π
There is certainly plans to dive a little deeper into the Material side of things as that was one of the main reasons for restructuring the Inventory system and taking it off the Player UI which now gives ample room to add extra materials without cluttering the Player UI.
I think Lead, Lithium and Titanium (as if my memory serves me correct, I believe HDD Platters contain a noteworthy amount of Titanium, or it could be Platinum I may be be mistaken, amoungst various other E Waste Components I am sure) would be highest on the list of being added to the Game the soonest. Not too sure when I will start on adding the new materials as adding the new materials into the inventory and stats wise is easy, but adding the material values to E-Waste components will break Player Saves, so I am thinking at that point I will also fix other save breaking issues like Component Animations, adjusting the positioning of the Queue Sparkles and a few other E Waste & Component related issues. Just so the 'Replace All Objects With Brand New Objects' method can be used more sparingly so players don't lose (or atleast minimise the chance of loss) a specifically collected RNG object such as a Full PC/Server.
But rest assured that new materials will make their way into the game in time ππ
What is your Suggestion?
Lead and Lithium are both valuable metals, Lead is found mostly in specific batteries, but lithium is literally everywhere, it's in capacitors (literally called lithium ion capacitors) and of course, lithium ion batteries.
These metals are killer metals, they don't like the air too much. Lithium oxidizes quickly and explodes in water, and lead is generally a large environmental and safety hazard, Despite this, both metals are still worth salvage. Lead sits around 2 USD per kilogram and Lithium is really unstable and fluctuates a lot between 10 and 25 per kilogram, depending on demand due to it's rarity.
Lithium is not a toy. It's extremely dangerous, never salvage lithium unless you know exactly what you are doing, these components should be FULLY discharged, and under no circumstances are the lithium plates to touch one another while you are unravelling them. Lest you want it to explode in your face or potentially give a fatal shock.
Lithium is one of those metals, we're running out of it. said to only make up 0.7% of the earth's crust, it's a shame we're burning so much of it in Ewaste, of course it's easy to synthesize since it's so low on the periodic table, but that's more effort than it is truely worth.
Lead is of course, more common than ever, It's everywhere, the rich literally poisoned themselves on it back in medieval ages.
How will this suggestion fit into the Scope of Scrapping Simulator?
more materials is obviously a main selling point of the game.
How would the Game and Community benefit from this suggestion?
i'm sure people would enjoy extra metals like these, especially considering they are also well known for being salvageable.
