The dashboard is a way to let users easily SSO into different applications. For google, it lets you go to:
gmail
google drive
google calendar
...
All laid out in a grid with icons. Users log in once and then you send them to the dashboard page. They can log into different applications easily.
It tends to be more employee centric but if you had a large number of apps that your customers wanted to switch between (like Google) it might be a CIAM feature you'd want.
