@sflanagan has noted a large usage on atlas of, in this case, pulling BES data . If we direct the user to use toksearch instead, how does a user know when the last time the data was synced? or what was the last shot that was synced? Because it won't do us any good to have the user try to use toksearch and then toksearch pings atlas anyway.

Also, if the latest shots synced are older than the ones they want (e.g. they want to analyze a recent experiment they performed) ... how do they request a re-sync?

When FDP is live, I believe so, but not currently. This is probably simpler to accomplish with whatever final index exists.
