Only Updating Certain Events #56

Open BlueMit11 opened 3 months ago

BlueMit11 commented 3 months ago

When I export the Sheet, only some events are published to the calendar. For example, the event with a red box around it below did not update, but the one right below with the green box did.

Assuming you had checked the "update" box for both rows, did the event that wasn't updated stay checked? And did you not see any message in the sidebar?

If you can share the sheet with me (info at gcaltools dot com, viewing permissions only please) I should be able to work out what's going on.

It didn't stay checked, and I did not see a message in the side bar. When I eliminated formulas that seemed to fix the issue for some events, however other events that had no formulas would not update after that. I will share.

Thanks, I'll check the Sheet now.

If the checkbox is unchecked that indicates that as far as Sheets2GCal is concerned the data was sent to Google and confirmation was received that the update was successful.

What data exactly had you changed in the Sheet that wasn't reflected in the calendar?

BlueMit11 commented 3 months ago

I added the events in the sheet and they didn't appear on the calendar.

The events in your screenshot all contain a URL in the "Link" column, and those links are only added to the sheet after the event is created. When you click one of those links does Google Calendar not open the event? If not, what does Google calendar tell you?

BlueMit11 commented 3 months ago

It does open, however it opens to another event. For example, the link for the event on 7/18 at 7am sends me to the event on 7/19 at 7am (the links generated for both events are exactly the same). At a certain point in the creation of this spreadsheet (after it was generated by Sheets2GCal) I had copied and pasted whole rows of events - including the links - and that may have something to do with the problem. However, I went and deleted all of the links then updated the events and I still run into this problem where it is assigning multiple events to the same link.

I've just sent an email explaining the problem (duplicate Event IDs) and how to fix it. Please let me know if you need any help following the instructions.
