Krita: using the Colorize tool for game assets #16
Works best if you start from a sketch or you need the outlines, on static objects. for modular animation, it depends on the complexity of every sprite. But at least you can use it for concept art.
Works with clean and sketchy outlines, and works great with quick and dirty color strokes.
You can set a shortcut to add a colorize mask
For game assets: limiting the mask to the layer's bounds
The output is always pixelized -> to anti-alias the islands you need to downscale to 25% w. bicubic
Split layer to separate color islands and lock alpha channels
