better search for MET

Dear MET maintainer, I have a need for more advanced search features on the federations metadata that are note covered by the current MET search engine. Basically I would like to be able to search by entities attributes vaues and not only by entityID.

Hi Davide You can search against a few additional criteria at: https://met.refeds.org/met/search_entities/. Is this sufficient or did you have something else in mind? Cheers Nicole

Yes, sorry for the delay. I would like to be able to search by:

• scope (shibmd:Scope)
• OrganizationName
• OrganizationDisplayName

Agree with those search areas. It also would be great to be able to search by

• Country/region (continent) - vs by Federation - I may know I want the federation in Estonia, but don't know what it is called
• Existence of contact info - even specific contact info like a security or technical contact.

As the complexity grows, it would be fantastic to add an underlying search tool that can help speed up searches, and perhaps can enable additional capabilities including:

• search via API - particularly so that I can build filtered entity lists for my own purposes when needed
• Results Display Fields - flexibility on what fields are displayed on the search results page (for example, I'd love to see a list of all of the IdPs in the US that are in Sirtfi along with their security contacts!) - maybe some grouping and on-the-fly filtering would be great too!
• Search on multiple categories - I really like the ability to search by entity category, but some natural language for the categories over URIs would be really helpful in figuring out what I'm looking for. I also wish I could look for more than one at a time (CoCo and R&S!)

And one silly thing -- once doing a search, it would be really helpful to show what the search terms are of the resulting list - Nothing worse than getting called away from your desk between the time a search is started and the results appear, just to return and not remember what you searched on. A bonus would be to enable users to add or remove search criteria from the results list.

Hi all, I want to renew the discussion about this issue.

It would be great to allow searching entities by their displayName.

For example, searching entities running on Azure AD SAML Identity provider(EntityID starting with 'https://sts.windows.net/...') is not possible if you don't know the full IdP entityID.
