During gcm_setup, the user is required to choose a GOCART emission file with the question
Do you wish to run GOCART with Actual or Climatological Aerosols? (Enter: A (Default) or C)
AMIP is the default, but does not work for more recent years. Specifically, if the user chooses A above and tries to run more recent years, they get an error
You seem to be using MERRA2OX pchem species file, but your simulation date [202212] is after 201706. This file is only valid until this time.
Since climatological aerosols are supposed to work for any year, perhaps the default should be changed to C? Alternatively, an advise could be printed next to the question such as "For models running past 201706 please choose C" or "OPS" if someone chooses actual aerosols.
