- Potential short-term solution: run updatelayers on backend, this should set thumbnails.

In the layer list, the thumbnails do not have any background map. It would look much better with background map. It is normally possible to have some. @ErikKBethke , normally you can do it manually. You can select the layers in one page and generate for all of them. Just gonna take a few click page unfortunately.
