Multitouch for chords #11

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
FOF Songs include chords which can't be played on the phone, could you
implement this for multitouch phones like the hero and galaxy ect.

Original issue reported on code.google.com by fleming...@gmail.com on 9 Nov 2009 at 10:00

Well, I'm thinking of implementing multitouch, but for the Motorola Droid,
because it
is based on Android 2.0 which has API for multitouch. How did you manage to get
multitouch working on Hero/Galaxy? Did you use non-standard firmware mod? Which
one?
And for the chords - you should be able to pick any chord, just tap between
keys to
pick two adjacent strings (green+red / red+yellow), or tap red key to pick {red
/
green+yellow / green+red+yellow} strings.

The hero has multitouch capabilities, and has multitouch support on the browser
from
the off. How about green / yellow chords?

Well, after a little research it seems that while some parts of Hero have
multitouch
support, they do it not through SDK. Maybe this will work:
http://www.alicesbiscuit.com/android-sdk-multitouch-workaround.html
If you are willing to help me on that I can create simple program that will show
whether it is possible to get second touch coordinate. And in case of success I
put
it into ToF.

PS. green+yellow are picked by red key.

I'd love to help. What exactly do you have in mind?

First, we need to somehow get multitouch information.
Tomorow I will create simple application for that. You will try it (you have
Hero,
right?), and if we succeed, I will implement same multitouch detection method
in ToF.

Ok, here we are: http://tapsoffire.googlecode.com/files/MTTest.apk
But don't expect much - this program simply shows content of motion event that
system
sends to an application.
First of all, check whether it shows x2/y2 coordinates, as described here:
http://www.alicesbiscuit.com/android-sdk-multitouch-workaround.html
Simply double-touch and observe.
If x2/y2 are not included then watch for "size=" values. You should be able to
see
definate change in its value when you do second touch.

BTW, I checked it on my G1 and I see correlation between "size=" values and my
fingers movement. It seems that this value is indeed "size" of an area that
includes
both touches. And this is enough to implement cool iPhone-style zooming, but is
not
enough to use it in ToF. Hence the question: is multitouch (in Hero) used for
something other than zooming?

That program gives idenpendant values for x, y, x2 and y2. Which I presume
means the
hero is fully multitouch functional.

Good!
Now I'm going to build special Hero version.
But there is a glitch though, as we have three keys vs two touches. So we should
invent something for red+yellow+green combination.

I have a Sprint CDMA Hero and would be willing to help test this. Has any
progress
been made since Nov. 12, 2009?

I'm hoping you haven't given up on this project. I'm looking forward to
playing a
fully functional version on my droid. I'd pay in the marketplace for this game
for
sure!

I was just wondering if this issue has been given anymore attention lately. If
I recall
correctly, the Droid has multi-touch capabilities, but multi-touch does not yet
work in Taps
of Fire.

Is there any development on the multi touch front? As I have a Hero too and if
you
could get this to work it would be amazing. As others have said I wouldnt mind
paying
for the game then.

How about clicking green+yellow or just the normal one red. how is the Hero
version coming along?
