Debris covered glaciers in RGI HMA #29

I checked different regions within HMA where I am familiar with. I can cofirm that the updated GAMDAM inventory (Sakai 2019, TC) is of high quality and a good choice for RGI. I identified some issues with the delieation of debris-covered glaciers which might need some attention See e.g. an example for Kok-Shal-Too ExampleKokShalToo or Pamir ExamplePamir (yellow outline RGI70 Alpha/GAMDAM2, red outline Moelg et al. 2018 essd). The upper areas of GAMDAM2 are better but the lower part needs adjustment. There a remnants of a former surge visibel but even in 2000 these parts were hardly in contact with the main glacier. This shows the importance of the indication of surge type glaciers in RGI70.

I think these shown issues can be tackled in 7.1, but an updated surge inventory should be included in RGI7.0 (e.g. consider Guillet et al. 2021, TCD which is accepted for TC and other new inventories).

Thanks @tbolch ! Taking note of this. With @mjacqu we have a "surge glaciers representative" in RGI, and we hope to tackle the list of surging glaciers once the alpha version (outlines) are finalized. Tagging this as "7.1" for now.
