I'm not sure listing varieties used is very useful, probably best to list as freetext.

Also I don't think variety and genotype are the same concept - genotype is narrower as a variety can have multiple different genotypes

There are a few experiments testing genotypes performance. Maybe its importance should be taken into consideration.

Ok, so I recommend we add genotype as a factor (separate to variety as a factor), but we probably don't won't to encourage every genotype to be listed as a factor variant - based on what I know of wheat experiments here there can be a lot tested and they're likely to change regularly.
