Very High Requirement Achievements #271

Currently, in my opinion Omnipotent is still the hardest achievement to unlock, and unlocking each of the achievements is quite a feat.

We should reward those players that have committed countless hours to the server with cosmetics through achievements.

Milliner Purchase every single hat in the store. (With the exception of VIP only items) (Total value of $2854000) Reward

Polymorph Purchase every single playermodel in the store. (With the exception of VIP only items) (Total value of $4898000)

Reward: I was looking for a sort of royal figure but I couldn't find one anywhere, alternatively a video game character would do

Hipster Purchase every single accessory in the store. (With the exception of VIP only items) (Total value of $1050000)

Reward: Rainbow Bowtie

While I agree we should reward long time players, this isn't the way. Achievements should feel do-able if you just put your energy in them. I hate grindy achievements.

I've got one achievement left in Terraria, and it's to do 200 fishing quests. Quick calculation tells me I need to spend roughly 60 hours of playtime to be able to accomplish that. Who in their right mind would?

The sad fact, though, is that practically all achievements--in some way or another--are grindy. If you attempt to filter as much of those out as possible, you won't really have much left to utilize. Better to just bite the bullet on that one, imo, as opposed to fretting. It isn't like achievements are linked to rewards [yet... if ever].

If we want to add achievements that involve destructions/construction, we'd just need to set the criteria to a reasonable goal. Simple as that; they can work if done correctly. So far the concern is about extremes.

Donkie commented 7 years ago

They don't necessarily have to be grindy, just difficult. Omnipotent is difficult, few has it because it's difficult. But you can do it in one round if you're good

ghost commented 7 years ago

Right, so what I have in mind wouldn't at all pushing it.

DrPitLazarus commented 7 years ago

I unlocked the omnipotent achievement when it was 6,000 damage in one round. 🤓

Whats the point in achievements if they are all technically doable once you get all the weapons, currently there is little for players to aim for long term and it's a suggestion.

Just because you don't want to do fishing in terraria doesnt mean that there arent people that will sweat 40 hours fishing in runescape or some other game.

Hell it doesnt even need to be an achievement, you could just have some items listed in the Q store without Prices and with a really difficult requirement to get them

Hm yeah I guess some level of grind is required.
