Change requirements for the compound bow to promote actual contribution to the community. #448

I think the current system we have to get the bow (just register an account on the forums) could be tweaked to promote activity on our forums, which have been stagnant to say the least, as well as gain more active members in the community. The way we have the bow right now just gives us massive amounts of useless, dead accounts that'll never be used again. I think the requirement should be tweaked to having to make 3-5 posts on the forums to get the bow, or add a more desirable weapon for this requirement (I'd give it to the AK47 maybe, lots of appeal to people given it's an AK but the weapon isn't particularly overpowered on flood.) Thoughts?

Nice suggestion, it may actually work but there's just one problem, the forums will be spammed with useless posts and comments, I can just imagine the numerous posts in different languages posted all over the forums. As the ak47 is buyable and many people already have it, I don't recommend making it the post reward weapon, however a reskin of the ak maybe good in this case like a golden ak47.

I don't think that changing the requirements for the compound bow should be changed given how long they've been like this. I'm also not a big fan of giving away an ak47 or something, as sgt said many players already have this.

I think an exclusive cosmetic would be nice for dedicated members of the community, (Join steam group + Join BR + [x] posts in forums) maybe? Not something big like a skin, but something like a hat or something. Maybe a crown?

Also I'd want to be able to remove whatever reward we give them if they're just shitposts.

We already have a method to encourage players to post and I do agree that there should be more incentives to without all the shit posting. I believe with the way the community is structured right now, we should probably be a bit more layed back on the majority of discussion topics that are outdated.

I also do agree on more reward-based items like cosmetics, weapons and/or features like more customization on your player card in-game, some cool chat tag title regardless of how potentially retarded that might be, some dedicated member-exclusive playermodel(s), etc

Well, changing the requirements for compound bow alone isn't enough to increase forum activity. I agree it's worth considering other incentives. There is also an achievement for registering on the forums, and one for posting if I recall right.

Counter what's the method to encourage players?

CounterCraftz commented 6 years ago

It's not really 'encouragement' but you gain money/tokens by hitting certain number of posts. Not sure why we decide to hide this from players
