I confirm I have the same issue.

Apparently goes black right after GRUB.

And you never got the chameleon? I have this but ten seconds later the chameleon appear.

Could you try to build the VM on your host to see if it's related to the VM build on my desktop.

julien-duponchelle commented 9 years ago

Perhaps it's related to the missing guest addition

grossmj commented 9 years ago

I've done a new build on my PC using Packet 8.2 and VirtualBox 5.

It can be downloaded from http://we.tl/divmvuv8Nu

First thing I noticed is the default name is vm and not GNS3 VM but more interesting the 2 network adapters are different models. Should be both Intel.

virtualbox_import

By default nothing is attached to the second adapter (should be NAT).

virtualbox_import_2

and if I don't change anything regarding the network adapters, the VM boots but if I change the second adapter to NAT then I have the black screen.

When I import: capture d ecran 2015-08-04 a 10 00 34

I will try to fix the NIC at build

julien-duponchelle commented 9 years ago

A build with NIC fixed: https://www.wetransfer.com/downloads/f939effecd936e353e7ad35ab85c4ed520150804101429/62a75f

Ctrl + Alt + F1 seem to fixe the issue. It's not the correct terminal selected by VirtualBox

julien-duponchelle commented 9 years ago

I reopen because the fix for black screen broke the splashscreen :(

I see a black screen and the first time it starts It gives me an error cause it can't find a network interface, I manually select an existing host-only one and it starts up but it's just a black screen after grub thus I can't get it to connect to GNS3
