Hi,
I tried using the aspell-import command on an old ispell (french) file.
The import complained on each accentuated word, with e.g :
Error: The word "polym?re" is invalid. The character '?' (U+3F) may not appear in the middle of a word.
After converting my file .ispell_francais to utf-8 (using "cat .ispell_francais |recode latin1"), the import went perfectly.

Is it possible to make the encoding detection and conversion within the perl script? If not, you may want to add the "encode" hint on the doc page (http://aspell.net/man-html/Using-aspell_002dimport.html#Using-aspell_002dimport )
Thanks for the command, by the way. JD
