There may be value in enumerating (possibly as separate issues) or excluding whichever repos do not need to be migrated. At least one of the repos on their page is mentioned to be stale and should not be used. We will want to prioritize these projects, an example of a low (or even no) priority would be the template. https://github.com/FriendsOfGalaxy?tab=repositories
I've made a checklist with the repositories. The ones with their own maintainer we might look to fork the original repo and match it to the structure/style of a FoG repo as the FoG fork is likely out of date (also forking the original repository allows a user to easily navigate to the original instead to the fork of the original). Additionally, we might look to add some other plugins in @Mixaill's awesome-gog-galaxy that aren't in GOG Galaxy's built-in search (so not forked by FoG).
Hello,
First of all, nice initiative.
Did you contact with GOG to make an agreement to perform transition of built-in search from @FriendsOfGalaxy to this one organization?
Also, did you try to contact @FriendsOfGalaxy directly (AFAIR, friendsofgalaxy@gmail.com
)?
We haven't contacted GOG yet as we thought it better to have something to show them first. Also personally I'm unsure if I emailed FoG but I saw that some others did. I also tried contacting GOG to see if they could do something about the lack of updates through support and bug reports but have gotten no response.
I'm separating this task from "external forks" milestone as it is not exactly about that.
In the scope of this task lets leave only those: uplay (@FriendsOfGalaxy) psn (@FriendsOfGalaxy) paradox (@FriendsOfGalaxy) steam (@FriendsOfGalaxy) origin (@FriendsOfGalaxy)
as we know that despite most of them are technically "forks", the real maintainer was FriendsOfGalaxy.
Fork @FriendsOfGalaxy repositaries/plugins and organise them.
This includes adding some sort of build script and whatever deemed as appropriate (subject to change).(moved to #10 )Plugins (current maintainer in brackets):
NOTE: obv if its being maintained by @FriendsOfGalaxy its not being maintained anymore lmao
