I'm considering using this but it seems to have been dead for some time now. How is this going?

The project is not dead but rather stalled. We effectively don't have the resources to maintain it currently but we're actively seeking a maintainer.

I'd recommend against using it in production for the moment unless you're willing to help bringing this beta quality code to production level.
