Totally agree with that. And i thinked of this so deep. AMD Should look to 2 companies which already are having a totally innovative and opensourced minded focus AND they are partners eachoder already.
DAW Oriented Software guys: Presonus: https://www.presonus.com/en-US/studio-one-pro.html Bitwig Studio: https://www.bitwig.com/ Both of his daw are already fully integrated with hardware graphic acceleration, being Bitwig the most recent one to achieve it. IDK how Presonus Studio One did it, but Bitwig used vulkan libraries.
Also they are both supporting linux already: Presonus being in his beta version of his so recent las release: https://support.presonus.com/hc/en-us/articles/29946266352525-Studio-One-Pro-7-Linux-Getting-Started Bitwig Studio supporting linux from the beggining: https://www.bitwig.com/download/
Here are my deep points here: The new OpenSourced Clever Audio Plugin Standard made with Bitwig Studio in partnership with Hu-He: https://www.bitwig.com/stories/clap-the-new-audio-plug-in-standard-201/ Focusing on improve the actual stuff in terms of performance, capabilities and also bringing the thinks easy for manufacturers to bring full multiplatform support with ease, also having already his way to port his VST,AU,AAX and whatever with ease to CLAP. Studio One from Presonus and Bitwig Studio where of course the first daw's on supporting this open sourcered format. Also Vital Audio fastly deployed his plugins CLAP and some Linux based DAW's such as Reaper implemented his own support for thoose plugins.
Main page here: https://cleveraudio.org
The new .dawproject file format, another OpenSourcered project which aims into create an standard file format to easily migrate projects from one daw to another made by Bitwig Studio and in partership with Presonus. This literally is the first dream every artist wanted since DAW's were born. https://github.com/bitwig/dawproject
And of course, Bitwig Studio and Studio One were the firsts to implement it in his daws, also Reaper did it and probably other Linux based DAW's did it already too.
What are my thoughts here about this: They can and want to lead Music Production to a next and open sourced level. They support all platforms. This can lead to musicians to work with his computers in incredibly high sample rates, bit deph... so Higher audio Quality and the hability and capacity to do even greater stuff. The hability to them to collaborate, no matter which platform/software they're using. Can open a road to make Linux the Standard and best OS to choose for musicians. Which today they're totally caped out by the greatest plugin manufacturers to have only access to a real-time ready OS like linux via MacOS and under Apple lines and hardware limitations, also the only far alternative is Windows being an OS which is not ready in his basis for music production and all stuff related to work well with audio in Windows is in the hands of Steinberg which is propietary owner of ASIO low latency drivers and VST standard.
Ways i see someone could make market cap with this:
So i think, tons of things can get better, customers can be happier, and there is a bunch of legacy which could be posible to get rid of, at least thoose big ones handling the thinks as always forever at gigantic prices will never be good for no one, and this in Music Production Industry is a heavy problem which everyone doesn't even take care because in the majority they're "Marketing fanatism" customers of what they are withouth enough technology understanding in general.
In my personal issue, i'll say that the only think which retains me on windows is Music Production, and also any graphic artists or profesional which is Adobe Dependant is also closed in the same jail, not to say that IN GENERAL artists and art related industry companies are already in or will eventually will """""Go to macs because it is better""""".
Wine still exist, even being horrible at his base... because it was always horrible, valve did something great forking it to proton and getting rid of involving the entire videogame industry to support linux. I'm using this as a case of succeed because something like what i am thinking has a similar road.
That is my deep thnking, hope AMD reads and the dream comes true, because i don't have the money to do this.
I know that is too much or heavy, but i also think that getting market cap just from Music industry will not be a big deal and also it will be so expensive to achieve, also having so much privative big ones in the way... So that's why i thought about this one.
Why to not get people into using linux in a good level at a daily basis? The future will come and probably will be full of programmers, and programmers best choice of OS is always linux, and his apps nowadays are all deployed on linux servers, theorizing of course that Linux could become a must have knowledge for future generations in order to make this wider plan more reasons to think that could be worth the money it will cost, and as i said... There is so many BIG THREADS to make the market cap enought for AMD just by going to audio, Apple is a big thread, Steinberg will be not agree getting his audio on windows monopoly taken out, and also microsoft being another privative one will put his rules in order to get benefit not caring a shit about no one, and i guess that linux community is so far open for acomplishing great audio stuff but they're just not supported by plug-in manufacturers which is essential, and they will not work for getting things better on privative software stuff.
Just to resume... I think getting the cool thinks we want in music industry is a really heavy, expensive and complex problem to solve and needs so much partnership and money interest in common to succed because it also implies into taking the cake out of his big owners, and even sounding that simple there are millions involved to get lost and millions to get winned. But the most important, there should be enough demand to even think to execute stuff like this and the vast majority of Artists are so happy eating from a fantastic and gigatonic wall of marketing fume to care about getting the thinks better, because they are already so fantastic to even be posible to imaginate what the hm... could be better if everything is already perfect right now and the limitations are widelly accepted as unbreakable.
I think we are really missing the opportunity for a large group of people from the music industry to start working and experimenting with TrueAudio Next. I think this could give AMD the edge on that domain as while almost everything gets accelerated these days, real time audio is NOT, and this is really a shame because it could open up the market.
Come on guyz, we really need this! 😊
