Imagery Issues in Chumphon, TH - Case 29 #86

Open GRABOSM opened 3 years ago

GRABOSM commented 3 years ago

Ref: #49

While reviewing and verifying map data in Thailand we came across some edits and sharing the questions or doubts related to the same. We are forwarding the concerns here so we can discuss and reach a consensus on how to approach these cases and do we need editing here or not. Please do let us know what you think and how best we can improve the data around these data points.

Case 29: Outdated imagery in Chumphon, TH

Issue: The imagery is updated for a small region but not continued to the remaining area, thereby leaving a highway that appears both as a single highway and dual carriage highway. How do we approach this issue and are there any other confirmed sources that can help us identify the correct way this trunk road is mapped?

Reference: Maxar Premium is the updated image and a major part of the trunk highway does not have the image updated, but the map data is added as a dual-carriageway from node 5425964743 to node 484290098

@mishari, @Paul012, @stephankn, @intuiquest, any suggestions on how we can approach this or any other available imagery we can consider?

Without a massive amount of GPS tracks to identify lanes in both directions, you will have to wait until updated imagery is released.

I added a fixme with a hint to the roads mentioned above and fixed a small connection issue left over. I did not fix the missing bridges.

I checked and see that Google has updated imagery already. So I suppose it is just a matter of time until Maxar rolls out an update here.

You might be able to get in tough with Kevin Bullock. I am quite certain there was a way to report areas which need updates, but I can't find the link. You could try OSM direct messaging or even firstname.lastname@maxar.com https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/@kevin_bullock/

@stephankn thank you for the suggestion. We will wait for the imagery roll out before making any changes. Marking this as resolved. We will check on the imagery again before updating the ticket and closing it.
