USAGov Blog Writing Criteria
The USAGov Blog is a diary of sorts. We talk about the approach we take to our work, explaining our processes and what works and doesn’t. We also share problems that we encounter and how we solve them with data and testing, to better serve the public.
Our goals are to share what we learn with readers and to motivate agencies to partner with us on special projects and promotions.
Unlike most government blogs, our audience is not the general public. Instead, we focus on educating three groups about our work:
We welcome short 200 word pieces or longer 550-700 word pieces. Tips and infographics are welcome as well.
We follow plain language guidelines including writing in active voice rather than passive and staying away from jargon. We write conversationally, with a friendly and authoritative tone.
